Covid-19 Emergency Fundraising

FOR THE GIBBERD GARDEN

MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY

Invest in a Treasure

At the beginning of last year we were looking forward to celebrating the Trust’s 25th Anniversary in June 2020.

It was 25 years since an appeal was launched to save the Gibberd Garden for the public rather than a private sale. The original appeal was successful, and the Trust was able to acquire the House and Garden with the help of many donations and the Heritage Lottery.  We couldn’t celebrate properly with the magnificent band of volunteers that have helped to maintain the Garden over that time and ensuring it remained open for the public. We find now, in 2021,   that the Trust must continue the appeal to secure the future of the Garden as the pandemic did not provide the best conditions for fundraising.

In line with Government advice re. Covid-19 restrictions, the Garden was open for limited periods and under restrictions for most of 2020, and this continues into 2021.  We are eager to welcome you back into the Garden as soon as possible for the  2021 Season and plans are being made to return to normal openings and events as restrictions are gradually lifted.    We will announce event dates with less notice as usual but the CAMRA Beer Festival,  Picnic, music and drama events are “on the radar”

We desperately need your help to raise funds to replace the revenue lost in 2020 and ensure the Trust and Garden’s survival and are hoping that you might make a donation to the Gibberd Garden Trust

Any amount that you are able to donate to our appeal will be gratefully received.  Donations will help pay service charges and secure the wages of our gardeners in full, to ensure the Gibberd Garden continues to survive, grow and thrive.  Even though we cannot see it for ourselves now, it will be in a fine state when we are able to welcome you back as Sir Frederick Gibberd intended – for public enjoyment and education.

This much-loved open space is part of Harlow’s heritage.
