At 3pm Razed Roof will be performing Unfolding. A chance to see theatre devised and inspired by The Gibberd Garden.
Razed Roof is an inclusive performing arts group for people with, and without, learning difficulties and disabilities.
Razed Roof is based at Harlow Playhouse where an inclusive company of up to forty participants work together for over six hours every Thursday with the support of an experienced team of staff. The company is made up of adults with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities; elders; and young people from mainstream education.
The company provides theatre skills training and opportunities for performing publicly. Building social skills and confidence is an integral part of the work, along with promoting inclusion.
Razed Roof has worked on scripts by established playwrights including Alan Ayckbourn, Philip Ridley, Lucinda Coxon; and more recently Judith Johnson has been commissioned to develop scripts through devising and writing together with the company.
The choice of play is guided by its use of imagery and the potential for movement work.
The script is adapted so that it can be told through words, music and dance
and allows full participation from each individual.
‘Unfolding’ is a company-devised show created after the performers visited and were inspired by the stunning Gibberd Garden.
