Sir Frederick Gibberd designed and made his garden at Marsh Lane, Harlow, from the 1950s until his death in 1984.

Glades, groves, pools and alleys provide settings for some 80 sculptures, architectural salvage, large ceramic pots, a gazebo and a moated castle.

The Gibberd Garden Trust was formed after Sir Frederick's death to realise his wish that the garden should be available to the people of Harlow for their recreation and education. The Trust eventually secured the garden with the generous help of the Heritage Lottery Fund and other donors, and now maintains the land and sculptures with the help of an enthusiastic band of volunteers.

The Garden is recognised as an important contribution to 20th century garden design and is listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.
