Sir Frederick Gibberd's library and archive have been catalogued and are kept in the House in the Garden, with the exception of his architectural drawings, most of which are housed in the Drawings Collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The rooms have been restored as far as possible to their original look in the sixties and all the furniture and fittings are authentic. Models of some of Sir Frederick's projects are on display, with much information on his lifetime's work. It is hoped that visitors will be able to recapture some of the feeling of the house as it was in his day.
Subjects covered include architecture, art, gardening, travel, building & engineering, town planning, biography, landscape design and Sir Frederick's diaries, plans, books & drawings of the Garden.
The archive is available for study by bona fide students, under supervision, in the House or the Visitor Centre.
The librarian is Mrs Moira Jones, Telephone 01279 426642.
The archivist is Miss Anne Pegrum, Telephone 01992 572133
